SUNRISE IN SAN DIEGO !

Flat Stanley's view of the San Diego skyline from Harbor Island.

It's time to wake up San Diego!

Wow, the sun is comming out and splashing the landscape in pink for Easter Sunday.

Good Morning San Diego!

Naval and Maritime Innovations

These boats are docked along the San Diego Harbor and showcase historical ships from the 19th and 20th Centuries.

The 1898 steam San Francisco Bay ferryboat Berkeley in the background while the 1904 Scotland built Medea, that was used in both World Wars under several national flags, is in the foreground.

Flat Stanley is getting a good view of the Star of India. This is the oldest active ship; the ship first sailed in 1863 and still sails the oceans today.

Behind Flat Stanley is a cruise ship getting ready to depart for a trip south down the Pacific towards the tropics.

BASEBALL ANYBODY ?

Petco Park the home of the San Diego Padres.

This is a park directly behind right field at Petco Park and is called Park in the Park. During games you can picnic and watch a National League game. Everyday the park is open to the public and has a playground for kids who live downtown or are visiting.

This is were the Cubs play the Padres when the Cubs are visiting in San Diego.

This is as close as we can get but it's 6 pm and the season hasn't started yet.

Aerospace History

Can you see Flat Stanley? He is on the handicap parking sign that is underneath a 1960's remote piloted reconnaissance aircraft painted in black - one of the first unpiloted spy planes.

This is an F-14, the U.S. Navy most used aircraft carrier Intercept airplane used to protect its Carrierl Group during the Cold War during the 1970s and 80s.

This plane flew off aircraft carriers to protect the Marine Corps.

Wow! These planes are small compared to a commercial plane that airlines use.

This airplane has eyes and teeth!

Anyone want a ride?

Looks like Flat Stanley wants to take a trip to space - he's on a Delta 2 rocket from the late 1960's.

This rocket must need a lot of fuel to get off the ground - it must be 50+ feet!

As you can see, Flat Stanley is "Catching the Spirit."

It's good that these planes can't turn on their jet engines anymore.
